--We are Gerrit VanVoorhees & Amanda Stokes-VanVoorhees--
Located in rural Virginia on 8-acres between the Cities of Richmond & Williamsburg.
Visitors welcome by appointment.
Our Farmette is home to our dogs, 2 horses, chickens, ducks and geese.
We
are very fortunate to watch a family of red foxes
playing
in our back pasture and have spent many hours
watching their cubs antics while the dedicated parents watch and teach.
We feel blessed with the amount of wild-life on our Farmette which also includes delightful herd
of young deer and a gang of amusing wild turkeys (especially the Tom doing his mating dance!).
AND
the surprise of 2 black snakes mating this spring!
Our animals are like children to us and, as such:

We give endless hours - care, love, training, chores, lack of sleep to sit with sick ones or when whelping a litter

Patiently sit, hold, provide encouragement and wait hours with a girl ready to whelp a litter

To know our animals so well, that we instinctively know when one is not well

To be patient with training, education and discipline with any animal
-
To NEVER put winning above the welfare of our animals
-
To compete with honor and dignity and NOT court favors for personal gain
-
Pride in our barn and kennel establishment - whether it be mucking stalls, mowing grass, mending fences, etc.

To never compromise in the quality of food, care and welfare of our animals while foregoing many things for ourselves

To have the COURAGE and HEART to be with our animals when their time is up here on this earth

To realize that our learning and education is NEVER-ENDING

To accept the consequences if we are wrong

To revel in the unconditional love every animal here gives us!
